In an effort to become more environmentally friendly, I made the decision to use cloth nappies on my children long before my daughter was born. But it wasn't until she was a few months old that I discovered the world of reusable, modern cloth nappies. Then I became aware of how much money I could save by ending my part-time disposable nappy habit, as well as how cute my baby would look in these wonderfully innovative products.
So my journey into the modern cloth nappy world began. In switching to cloth, it occurred to me that there is no way any mother would let their children near chemicals in the home, yet everyday millions of babies are subjected to the chemicals contained in disposable nappies. I also thought about the comfort factor - I certainly wouldn't want to wear plastic underwear, so it's only fair to put natural fibres such as cotton or hemp on my baby's bottom. I have a strong belief that every mother who says no to disposables and yes to cloth is not only doing the best thing for their baby, but also doing their part to save the earth... and what an example we are setting for the next generation!
